Having worked through the first four ‘Kim Stone’ novels by Angela Marsons, I was eager to move on to her latest book – Blood Lines. I was delighted to have been given the opportunity to read and review the book prior to its release.
I admit to being slightly apprehensive after reading the book teaser. The reintroduction of a character from a previous book often makes one groan. Is it lazy of the author to reuse rather than create?
I entered into the world of Kim Stone, once again, but with slight trepidation. Kim’s nemesis starts to make an appearance as the story unfolds. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how Ms Marsons weaved her into the book. It very quickly became apparent there was more to discover in the dynamic of Kim and Alex. I loved every minute of it.
Running alongside this was of course the main thrust of the book. Once again Ms Marsons delivered an amazing, intricate and outstanding crime thriller. The story was captivating; the characters believable; the smallest of details clearly well researched. An absolute page turner, I found difficult to put down.
Blood Lines is up there with anything the great Agatha Christie could deliver.
