Favourite restaurant?
FiftyIn50Blogging Challenge day #3: Why do you like your favourite restaurant?
Favourites come and go, like so many fickle things in life. It's only your number one until you find a new thing vying for the top spot. Rather than focus on a specific restaurant, I will use the "Why" as the driving force of this post.
Here's my personal checklist for a top eating establishment:
- Light and airy; no basement dungeons.
- Background music is what it says on the tin. I'm here for food and chat, not a concert.
- Friendly staff who are genuinely interested in being there.
- A range of price points, in both food and wine.
- An interesting selection of options. So many mediocre restaurants settle for pedestrian offerings -- especially in the starters. We've all seen bonbons (balls) done every which way, and mozzarella sticks in a dipping sauce.
- Good napkins and cutlery. I am obsessed with a napkin. If I am paying top price I want linen. I will permit quality paper for a lower price menu, but not one you can see through.
- And finally, and obviously, good food! 🍽️🧑🍳
It might sound like an impossible list, but there are many who
make the grade.
