Re: Dealing with the YouTube Addiction

After reading a post about someone's YouTube addiction, I wanted to offer my take on it.   There’s no ability to comment or communicate with the blogger so I thought I’d do a “Reply post” (apparently you start the with Re: and the title).

I’ve never really been a YouTube consumer.  Yes, I have watched some videos but it’s not my go to.  I can’t imagine wandering through YT in a carefree daze.

If I want to learn something new, I seem to prefer the written word.  Generally, we can read faster, and cut to the real content far quicker than a video.

My experience of YT learning is 30 seconds of adverts from Google; a pre-amble by an over-enthusiastic presenter telling me who they are sponsored by; next there’s the “Don’t forget to subscribe and follow me as I need numbers to feel validated”.  Gradually we get to the point of the video.

Don’t get me wrong – I have found some useful “how to videos” on YT, but generally this grumpy sounding guy prefers to read.  (I’m not really that grumpy!)

AND, if the author of the original post sees this:  Good luck with your interview, and thanks for the post.
