Relationship with Alcohol
FiftyIn50How do you feel about alcohol? Is it something you enjoy? What
do you like? What do you dislike?
This is an
interesting one for my daily FiftyIn50 blogging
prompt.
I realise many people have a different relationship
with alcohol, and one that can be challenging. I'd suggest you move on
to reading another blog if you're not comfortable discussing this
topic.
Speaking for myself, I enjoy alcohol in moderation.
I have never been one to overindulge and I can honestly count on a
single hand how many times I have went too far and had a hang-over the
following day.
I consider myself a social drinker. I like
a glass of wine, or gin, or beer, with friends while we chat and have
some laughs. In the past I never would consider drinking on my own as
it doesn't fit within my parameters. As I've approached middle-age I
have adopted a less rigid approach. I can happily enjoy a nice cold
beer in the garden on a warm summers evening, by myself.
Depending on what's going on socially, it can be days or weeks between
libations. I don't crave it or feel I am missing out on anything.
I feel blessed that I have this relationship with alcohol. I
am aware of the issues it can cause others, and their circle of friends
and family.
I strongly believe alcohol is not for
everyone.
For me, I enjoy and control it.
