Technology defines me
FiftyIn50What is your current relationship with technology? Do you enjoy
it? Does it cause you anxiety?
This is my daily FiftyIn50 prompt to
blog.
Simple: Technology is my life. Like most people, I use it every day to function. It's amazing how much you rely on it. If your internet connection has ever been down for more than a few minutes, you soon realise how much of daily life needs it.
Our entire TV solution is streamed. I listen to music, which is streamed. We use our mobile phones and tablets all the time. Even turning the house lights on needs technology!
Putting aside daily life tasks, I am a technologist. It has been by career for 34 years. I like keeping fresh, updated, and learning new things (it keeps me young). I like helping people. I run a variety of online services which other people use constantly.
I can't see that changing. However, I do have an itch to do something different in my career. After so long, I want to prove I can make a living doing something entirely different. That's where I am in my life right now. I'm trying a few things at the moment, and enjoying them. They use tech, obviously, but it's not the main function of the activities.
We shall see where it goes. It's hard changing career at 54.
