The supermarket wars are in full swing as they vie for our attention, and more importantly, our cash.  

Tesco's latest tactic is to convince us they are offering the best possible deal with their Brand Guarantee, but can we trust them?

If you speak English as your first language, you probably give very little thought to the quirky nature of the language.  You were possibly taught through repetition, reading, and of course living the language.

The Great British Bake Off is back for 2015. Series 6 begins on BBC1 on August 5th 2015.  Time to start following the GBBO contestants on Twitter and Facebook.

Today was another phenomenally warm and sunny one.  I think we have had at least two solid weeks of wall to wall sunshine.  The temperature was hovering around 27°C, as it has done for several days.  The high temperatures have really hindered any serious work in the garden.

Today, under the shade of a large tree, I set about weeding a gravel path.

The last several days have seen very high temperatures in excess of 25°C. Tonight as I was watering the garden I had an audience of thirsty on-lookers.

I found the largest bucket I had, put it in the field next to my garden and filed it with water.....

Firstly, a brief apology as this deviates from the theme of the blog, however it's my blog and my little bit of the web!

Sausages -- not my favourite food item; they can often be stuffed full of unwanted bits from the meat production process, however I have been known to enjoy a quality product.  I am also a firm believer in 'Shop Local' and supporting local butchers, where possible.  Sadly my most recent sausage purchase went against my guiding principles.

I'm two weeks into my first ever veg garden and already I feel robbed.

I had been away on business for a few days and returned on Friday night, eager to see progress around the garden. I was somewhat distraught as I reached the area containing my future food source.  Some little blighters had been at the brassica.
